On November 8, a conference dedicated to Lawyer’s Day was held at the Georgian Bar Association on the topic: “Advancing towards Europe and The Legal Profession’s Mission in Upholding the Rule of Law.”
The conference participants were addressed by the chairman of the Georgian Bar Association, Davit Asatiani; the director of the Legal Aid Service, Davit Simonia; the head of the diplomatic office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Georgia, Marcos Granados Gomes; and Trive Staf, head of the Oslo branch of the Norwegian Bar Association. Members of the Georgian Bar Association were also present.
„The legal profession is one of the oldest and inherently implies a commitment to upholding the rule of law in the protection of human rights, which in turn is a fundamental cornerstone of European values. Since Georgia declared its independence, the country has actively pursued European integration. Moving closer to Europe requires, above all, the establishment of rule of law principles, the protection of human rights, and the strengthening of democratic governance. The Georgian Bar Association continually works to strengthen the legal profession and the justice system. Each project or initiative that the association implements in collaboration with international partners is a testament to this effort,” said David Asatiani.
