The IBA is a leading international organization of lawyers, bar associations, and legal societies, founded in 1947, shortly after the founding of the United Nations. The IBA aims to contribute to the establishment of global stability and peace through the administration of justice. The IBA brings together more than 190 bar associations and more than 80,000 lawyers worldwide.

The IBA Policy Committee, made up of 20 representatives of bar associations from around the world, is one of the leading bodies of the IBA. The Policy Committee works and makes decisions on important issues such as the protection of human rights and the rule of law, as well as advocating for the interests of the legal profession worldwide.
