Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) named Zaza Khatiashvili as the human rights’ defender of the year.

In Brussels, with the majority of votes, the Human Rights’ Committee of CCBE named Zaza Khatiashvili as the owner of the very honorary award for human Rights of the 2017 year. The official ceremonial of the award will be held in November, at the CCBE plenary session.

 

The award ceremonial takes place once a year and it goes to the person for special contribution to the protection of human rights’ and freedoms’ principles, as well as to the lawyers’ institutional development.

 

Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) unifies   32 member bars, 13 associate and observer bars and law societies, accordingly more than one million lawyers. CCBE represents European bars and law societies before European and international institutions, which fights across the Europe to strengthen the role of advocates, to maintain the independence of lawyers’ organizations and to achieve the independent and high quality justice.
