In Hotel “Radisson Blue Iveria” presentation of a new program “ABA ROLI Online Teaching Program” was held. The program is aimed for the lawyers practicing in Criminal and General Law specializations.
Since 1996, ABA started conducting the programs of Rule of Law and programs of Criminal Law - since 1999. During its long carrier, al lot of innovative projects were offered to the Georgian legal society.
On October 1, 2010 new Criminal Procedure Code was set in force, which created the system of justice based on adversarial principle; The Institute of a jury trial has been introduced and significantly improved the defense's ability to protect the client's interests properly. At the same time, ABA started the trainings for the lawyers practicing in Criminal and General Law specializations aiming the introduction of a new system of Criminal Law, adaptation of lawyers in a new legal framework and sharing the legal knowledge between prosecutors and lawyers.
At this time ABA with the technical and financial support of USA State Department's International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), assists Georgian citizens in providing access to justice by holding the trainings on different themes in Criminal Law.
In parallel with the other ongoing programs, ABA ROLI has created the first internet program of continuing legal education – Online Teaching Platform (OLP) and worked out the non-standard type of training module (Skype, DVD) for the active members of GBA.
What is the Online Teaching Platform (OLP)?
Online Teaching Platform (OLP) is an innovative training model, created with the assistance of Georgian technical University. The model covers video- trainings, additional training material, guidelines and relevant legislation.
OLP provides the knowledge of lawyers by preliminary and final examination tests that makes it possible to properly assess the knowledge gained by the lawyers. By using the OLP, the members of GBA will be able to raise the qualification at any time and any place, raise the qualification and gain the obligatory credits for continuing legal education.
